The Bruce Freeman Rail Trail is a rail trail through the communities of Lowell, Chelmsford, Westford, Carlisle, Acton, Concord, Sudbury, and Framingham in Massachusetts — following the 25-mile route of the old New Haven Railroad Framingham & Lowell line. The trail has a 10-foot wide pavement with a 2-foot wide packed shoulder on each side.
Bring the whole family and your bike, scooter, roller blades, run or walk. Wanderers spirit gear is encouraged! We will meet at the Stop and Shop Parking lot (299 Chelmsford Street, Chelmsford)
A beautiful loop that takes you for a wonderful ride around the coastline of a couple of Massachusetts’ more well-known, but less-frequented cities. Located around Rockport and Gloucester, (pronounced “Glaw-stah”; the same Gloucester where the film “The Perfect Storm” took place) this is great chance to get a real taste of the North Shore/ Cape Ann area, and at just under an hour drive from Boston, is a completely reasonable day trip.
There are several options bicycling optionsbetween 10 and 40 miles for this trail for all levels of fitness and adventure. We’ll meet at Goucester High School to break into groups based on the route options.
Wapack Loop is a 3.6 mile moderately trafficked loop hiking trail located near Ashburnham, Massachusetts that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
We will meet for this hike at the Mount Watatic Trail Head off Rt 119 in Ashburnham.
